starter gone bad
 
just had my starter go bad in an 05 hemi. the shop said its gunna be around 500 bucks to replace it. am i being jipped or is this about the right price?:(

I had mine replaced for $200 Mopar part included.

They're probably charging you more because it's a HEMI. That's still to high though. I'd go somewhere else.

I'm not positive on the Hemi exactly, but on all the Jeeps I've owned, the starter is literally like 2 plugs and 3 bolts. Off with the old, on with the new. Super easy job if you want to take it on. Just make sure you disconnect the battery when you do it.

Starter on a hemi isnt a really a fun job

You will have to remove the front driveshaft

Access to the wire connectors arent the easiest thing either !! You can acces by the left wheel well by removing the splash guard.

Its pretty easy to access the 2 bolts for thw starter though.

I would say it takes at least 2 hours + parts

hemi starter is in the same place as the 4.7 my mechanic billed me 1.5 hours and the cost of the mopar starter and it was around $200
