**Fixed!!** Keyless entry failure (both keys) - car won't turn on

UPDATE: Fixed thanks to some good ideas below!

05 Limited Hemi WK - So I drove to work yesterday and parked in the parking garage and locked it with the fob. I leave to go home and the fob won't work to unlock. Door unlocks manually, but alarm goes off and it won't start.
My brother brings the spare key, which also doesn't work.

Since it was about midnight I just had my brother drive me home and took public transit in today. Car's still in the garage next door at $30/day. Any thoughts?

I'm happy to take it to a dealer if necessary, problem is I can't actually get it started to drive it there, and getting it towed out of a parking garage is iffy. Are there any key sequences or whatnot that can get the thing to simply reset? I walked by this morning (8 hours after I first discovered the problem) and the red alarm light was still blinking. But I didn't try to open it for fear of setting off the alarm again. Thanks in advance!

happened to me once, you need to replace the fob battery and remove the car battery negative terminal for like 5 minutes.

Re: Keyless entry failure (both keys) - car won't turn on

I had something similar happen to me on a 06 Overland WH, manually had to open the door, alarm didnt sound although it did initally and when i tried to start it it started and ran for about 10 seconds and died. It was telling me the key had not been programmed and the spare was also not programmed.

What i found out was the battery had low very charge and would hardly take a decent charge from a charger and it sent the ECU a bit crazy. Got a mechanic to try and diagnose and he put it down to a dead cell in the battery. So bought a new battery and left the car overnight with no battery connected. Connected it up the next day and everything worked.......magic!

It seems a low battery sends the car a bit crazy.....at least it did in my case??

Might be worth a look??

+1 on low battery.

There was a couple of times that I thought I had a major electrical issue with my '05 WK only to find out that my battery was bad. Dash lights flashing and weird clicking noises under the hood. One time I was at work and it wouldn't recognize the key. I had a tow truck on the way and I disconnected the battery because I got tired of hearing the alarm. I reconnected it and all was fine. I ended up going through 3 batteries in 5 years though. Seemed pretty excessive to me.

Okay, I'll give these a try. Been a while since I had a new battery. Thanks, gang. Will let you know what works.

What size is the nut on the battery? Apparently my hex ratchet is US and it's somewhere between 7/16 and 1/2. So no, I haven't made much progress other than pulling the horn fuse so I'm not "that guy" with the alarm that constantly goes off.

My incentive is to at least try the "disconnect and let sit" because the tow driver I consulted said I'd need dollys to get out of the parking garage  - i'm like three spots in from the entrance, grrrr.

PS no corrosion on the battery leads.

This happened to me twice! Once right before an Exam! The other day, it wouldn't let me Lock the Jeep so I left it unlocked all night and drove it the next day and then I was able to lock it. I'm going to change my battery ASAP! I already changed the Key FOB Battery!

It also would do the same things like above^^^

^^exactly why I freaked out and bought a new alarm, happened right when I was leaving for work on a Saturday (nobody to cover for me)... so I drove it to alarm place then took the train to work...

still having problems with the Viper alarm too, stupid remote start

Not sure about the nut size on your US Jeeps, my UK one is 10mm.
