Rack Cross Bars - Thule Fit Guide incorrect

I just purchased the Thule Aero bars, feet and fit kit for my WK2.

The fit guide calls for 53" bars (RB53), but they are too long. I called Thule and they said the bars should be 47" bars (RB47) so make sure you get the correct bars if you decide to use Thule Aero Bars.

Nice! Thanks for the heads up. Could you post some pics when you have a chance?

Perhaps a Mod should move this over to the WK2 forum, this is the SRT8 - WK2 section.

You're right. I was in a hurry when I posted and put it in the wrong place by accident.

I'll post some once I get the correct bars and get them installed. It will probably be next week.

When I went on the Thule website it mentioned RB47... I bought RB 47. This was about two weeks ago. Rackattack recommended RB53. I bought both, tried both, and liked the 47 as per Thule as they then don't stick out past the vehicle. I just again went on Thules website and they updated to RB53 as per you mentioned. Strange very strange but I'd agree RB53 would be too wide for most people's liking. Be sure to get a fairing if you don't want noise. I picked up the 44inch and its too wide, it doesn't sit completely flush on the vehicle as it hits the rails.

Did you actually install the RB53s? I couldn't get them to fit as the feet won't slide close enough to the center for them to fit. With the feet slid all the way in, they are still about 1-1.5 inches too wide.

See my pics in a my last post. I got the 47 inchers and they are perfect. Also, the 44 inch fairing fits beautifully on my WK2. It shouldn't sit completely flush against the vehicle as the feet will not allow it to. I ran out of time when installing the rack, and didn't put the fairing on right away. Big difference in noise with it on for sure.

No I didn't I installed the 47 as I thought thats what I would want, and laid the 53 on top of the 47 and they were to wide for my taste and packaged them back up and off they went.

Pictures will come soon, they are almost identical to the pictures posted ^^^. The 44inch fairing that you bought is just like mine, and you see how the ends sit on the rails and the feet dont hit. Thats fine however it rattles and I can't stand the rattle when the ends bounce on the rails especially because there is no feet to support it above the rails... Thats why I dont like it is the rattle when driving.. :/

Hmmm, I have had the fairing on for about a week now and cant say that I have noticed any rattle up to speeds of about 80 mph. I will pay extra close attention next time.

I used felt stickies on the bottom of the fairing where it rests on the roof rails. No noise and you can get the fairing to spread closer to the towers for less wind drag.

Granted this is for the lower profile Rack Attack rails but you may be able to trim the fairing over the stock rails so the feet on the bottom of the fairing rest on the roof properly. A little adjustment goes a long way for permanent rack usage. We keep the rack and various toys on the rig year round.

^mofeen's setup looks tight. You can even trim the cross bars back further or leave a bit outboard of the towers like shown for easier reach.
