odd engine sound
not sure if this belongs here or in tech support... iv always just come to this subsection... if wrong please move :)

well, its simple.. i have an odd sound coming from engine bay when ACCELERATING, or just coasting down a hill.

its hard to describe the sound.. it almost sounds as if its coming from the radiator? you can def. notice it and hear it big time when accelerating, at any rpm. Kinda sounds like a air wispy sound?, kinda scratchy sounding? (sorry its terribly hard to explain).

where do i begin to look or what to look for?

ps, need to do transfer case, tranny fluid, and differntials but i dont believe they have anythign to do with the sound.

Thanks guys!!!!

Re: odd engine sound
I dont know what to make of your sound description but noise on accel and coast could be differential noises.

Re: odd engine sound
air intake? It does make some noise under acceleration. You have stock or aftermarket intake? Probably not what your hearing but you'd be surprised how many people were surprised by it lol. Air does make all kinds of odd noise when it flows and starts really moving at speed. If its an air sound and no codes I wouldn't worry about it. If its more of a grinding or metal sound you may have something more serious. Any smells or feelings, vibrations? Video definitely could help. GL with the diagnosis.
