Helping 2005 4.7 WK MPGs

Ok i know the deal everyone says dont buy a jeep for MPGs. Ive always had jeeps and i love my WK but with gas prices going up i just cant pay out almost $200 a week to keep it fueled up. I have no intention of selling it either.

The only mods ive done to it that IMHO would have any effect on mpgs is a K&N drop in air filter and custom exhaust. I have been really good for the last year or so not driving my jeep hard and just driving conservatively. Ive done spark plugs and all reg maintenance and changed all fluids. I have michelin tires in the stock size and i use 87 octane gas and mobile one extended performance oil.

Ive never had any check engine lights or major issues so far (knock on wood).

My WK is just a heavy drinker. What can i do that will make a significant difference? true CAI? Tune? Anything?

I average 13 mpg according to fuelley.com.

I really dont think there is much you can do to help your mpg's that you havent done. I would use some seafoam in your gas tank if you havent done a fuel system cleaner recently.

Yea, I have the same engine also EVIC shows 16.3 daily driving with prob 60-70% country road driving stopping every mile. I am getting my superchip Friday I will let you know the results... Also I was getting 16.8-9 this week but that was very light on the throttle.

Let us know how that SC works out. I saw that for sale in the CL here but wasn't sure if it was worth it, looking for an economy tune here.

I hear you on this, im looking on moving into a house and commute is going to force me to get a car since i'm the only income at the moment. + getting house and having a baby!

14 city and avg 20 hwy here... Not much you can do. Long runs on flat road i can get 23mpg hwy @ 70mph.

Face it...if you want awd you need to get a eclipse/talon, and as long as you don't boost it it'll get great mpg. That or a impreza... even then mpg's isnt much better.
