Black WK2 saved by Black Box!

I decided to let the Wrangler rest a bit and do a tlc on the wk2. It was a bad winter here in NEPA. I first buffed it a bit and holy crap! the whole front end was all small chips and the part by the 3m protective tape at the rear door looked like a starry night sky. Just then I remembered the Turtle Wax Black Box kit sitting in the wax cabinet from my 09 Wrangler that I traded. I finished polishing it with a fine polish, then I started the kit. Black pre cleaner followed by black carnuba wax and to seal it a bottle of black spray detailer. Boy it came out great! I even used it on the plastic trim! I'm picky about my Jeeps and this product worked great! http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/r...-27-26_204.jpg http://i494.photobucket.com/albums/r...-27-46_517.jpg

One thing I have to add. The rags used to remove the polish are best thrown away unless you have a washer just for junk towels!! And if you have them, wear rubber gloves! My hands are raw from scrubbing all the black crap off!

Ya know, somewhere in my garage is a container holding my clay in it and for the life of me I can't find it!

anyone else with a black car notice a slight dark-charcoalish tinge to our rides? Everytime I see it in a different angle I swear they mislabeled my ride as "dark charcoal" lol..

Definitely clay bar. I did mine when my wife parked under some tree at work that left an acidic berry or something on the finish. Never seen anything quite like it. That stuff came off with moderate effort, but the real story was the amount of rail dust these things come with from transportation to your local dealers. If you don't do but part of your car, do the hood, tops of bumpers, and roof (where fallout occurs). My clay bar had turned completely orange twice over...

I clay barred my JGC as soon as I took delivery, the amount of rust that came out of the paint was amazing, I usually do all my cars when I buy them new but I haven't ever seen that much rust come out. My JGC is white and now it looks so much better. Clay bar is a life saver for paint contaminants.

I think that's a "feature" of the Brilliant Black. The pearl coats are supposed to look different under different light. I know my Rugged Brown can also look almost like charcoal in certain lighting (it's almost eerie ... park it in full sun as a brown jeep - come out in mottled light and it's charcoal.)
