Flooded JK 2010
Hi guys. My first thread and its a big one.

I was driving around in about a meter of water three months ago when there was big flood here. water started to come over the bonnet and the jeep died.

I was not able to do much about it since then waiting for my insurance claim to go through.

I have started to repair the jeep by changing all the oils and cleaning most of the electrical connections and installing a new set of computers and fuse modules.

After installing all of them we turned the key and the car started for a few seconds and then stopped. This happened about three or four times. Now the car will not start and the starting ticking noise is not happening.

The engine turns when we by-pass the key but does not start.

A friend has said that it could be the crank sensor and so i will be changing that next.

Any idea ???

I need your help

Re: Flooded JK 2010
That actually sounds like the security system. You said you changed computers. What exactly did you change? And where did it come from? If you changed the engine controller and put in a used one(I'm just guessing) then you would have this exact problem. The computer would have the security information from the jeep it came from.It would not match your jeep.

I just noticed where you are- I work on jeeps in the U.S.
I would say you need a Witech which is the scan tool we use at the dealership. I don't know how things are set up over there,or if there is anything different on a non U.S. wrangler. ANything I tell you is really just a guess since it I am going by experience, not actually seeing your Jeep

I would like to think that the local dealer has his A game on.
Will be taking it in for programming and see what happens.
Thanks for your help guys. will keep you updated on my progress

Re: Flooded JK 2010
well. my jeep is working again.
after changing all the stuff and taking it to the dealer for a diagnostics check all that was wrong with it was the bloody crank sensor.
so now the jeep has been detailed and is working fine except for the one thing. when i floor the gas pedal its not as responsive as before. so we changed the spark plugs and it improved but not 100%.

Anyway my next question is how to deal with all the rust inside the cab. what would be the best way to stop and control all the rust on the nuts and bolts and the frame of the seats, the steering column, the low gear shift and so on...

What to do ?
