Re: paint matched mirror covers

buy chrome and paint them or have a body shop paint them. that is what alot of members, including myself, have on their jeeps.

theres actually another option...salvage 08-10 painted mirrors. They are pretty cheap on car-part.com. It will cost a little more to buy the mirror housing...but a little less to paint them since they are already painted.

Yeah man, that OEM 3M tape is not that special, especially under severe temperature changes unless you "REALLY" clean the surface before hand. Especially over plastic, it just doesn't give it a very good surface for it to adhere to. Same thing happened to me back when I had covers.

Needless to say I got pissed said eff it and just had both mirrors painted lol. Good investment, totally worth it!

Re: paint matched mirror covers

use scotchbrite pads on the mirrors and you will have no problems with them sticking

Re: paint matched mirror covers

Why don't you just paint the mirror itself? No need to buy cheap chrome plastic covers, plus most ordinary body shops wont get invovled with stuff like that.

Re: paint matched mirror covers

^^^^cause the mirrors are like a tectured plastic and a pain to disassemble. Most shops I talked to in 2006 didnt eevn want to touch them
