lift/wheel help!

Hey all,
I am going to be needing tires before this winter so I decided to lift my '06 GC. This is mainly for looks as I do not do that much offroading. I was thinking about the 2" Rough Country lift and larger tires around 31" or so. I do not like the idea of wheel spacers so i found the rims below. What do you all think about these in 18"?

The pic below is them on a black GC, but the rims shown are larger than 18" (maybe 22").

I was thinking about wrapping them in 265/65/18 Goodyear Silent Armors. I had these tires before and like them very much. Diameter would be 31.5".

My questions are, what you guy think about my rim, tire selection? Also, the rim has a 30mm offset as apposed to the stock 50mm offset, so the backspacing would be 5.18". Will the 265/65/18 tire with the +1.07" wheel spacing rub at full turn? I dont want to have to do the pinch weld mod, and I dont want to cut any ball joint bolts!

Thanks everyone!
James

Re: lift/wheel help!

I just checked my numbers and according to wkjeeps.com the width of the stock wk rim is 7.5". If this is the case and the 50.8mm offset is correct, then shouldn't the backspace be 5.718"?
So if thats correct, then my new rim (5.18" BS) would only be spaced out by 0.538".

Again I pose the question, will the 265/65/18 tire fit without rubbing if i have a 0.538" outward spacing and 2" RC lift?

I really don't want to pull the trigger on buying any of the components untill i have this all figured out.

Thanks in advance!
James

Re: lift/wheel help!

I just lifted my 2011 Grand Cherokee and as one of the first I wasn't sure which tire size would fit.

So, I lifted it, put the stock tires back on and I will be heading to NTB this evening and have them look at it to determine the max size considering backspacing and turning radius. I would suggest the same course of action.

Just remember, once the tires are on you can't return them so you want to be sure.

Re: lift/wheel help!

Mhassler, I agree and thats exactly why I'm looking for someone with a 265/65/18 tire on the WK. I am really uneasy about wheel spacers so I want to make sure the rims I get will push the wheels out far enough. I dont want to push the wheels out too much, just what is needed to avoid rubbing at full turns. If they rub when fully articulated that will probably be acceptable.

Anyone have 265/65/18's?
or dose anyone hvae a 265 tire approximately 31.5" tall?
Thanks,

Re: lift/wheel help!

Has anyone had issues with rocks tearing up the sides of their truck after spacing their wheels out? My truck is black and every scratch is noticable. Perhaps there is a fender lip that can be added to protect against this?
