Vibration and Humming- '05 limited 70k

Hey guys,

Quick question cause i thought it was an easy fix. When i hit and stay in a certain RPM range, i get a bad vibration through the truck and a "whoom whoom whoom" not very fast like the spinning of the driveshaft.

I thought it might have been the U-Joints in the truck, but there is no play in either the front or rear driveshaft on my 5.7 limited. I get the vibration whether its cruising at or just shifting throught the 2-2300 rpm range, and also up around 2800-3000 rpm.

any ideas? i cant really tell if its coming from the front or the rear of the truck, thats how bad the truck vibrates. It makes me think its the rearend, but im just not sure.

Thanks in advance..

Josh

balance and rotate, perhaps? I felt vibration in the wheel not during specific rpms but around highway speeds and that was the culprit.

just had a set of srt8 reps put on about 1000 miles ago.. didnt start doing it untill about 100 miles ago..but i guess i can check and see if any of the weights fell off.. didnt even think of that

If it's happening at certain rpms it's most likely not to do with tires, driveshafts, etc. that would be at mph. check your harmonic balancer at idle and see if it shakes, or if the rubber is starting to come out(not while running of course :D).

Does it sound like vibrating metal? That whoom whoom whoom sound over a certain MPH?

The humming might be your bearing in your differential! I'm getting mine replaced soon.

yea guys,

i appreciate all the help so far.. let me provide some answers for what's been mentioned so far...

its not a an MPH its just at RPMs doesn't matter how fast.

i checked all the weights on my rims, and they are still there.. (i would be able to tell if any fell off)

it doesn't sound like vibrating metal either.. its feels like something out of balance. I'm leaning towards the rear for the fact that it wont happen in park and i rev the engine and the tranny hasn't feel irregular.

guess maybe just take it to the dealer

Will i have to worry about the dealer saying anything to me about having aftermarket wheels on the truck?

they wont try to play games with me in saying that the rear went bad because of my srt8 reps... they are only 20's with 305 rubber... not much different in overall wheel diameter than the stock 17s i don't believe

Might want to check the front diff mount, as they have a history for going bad on the WK. Mine went at around 40k, and all the vibes previously felt went away with a new one.
