Bad Vibration and Humming from truck

Hey guys,
Quick question cause i thought it was an easy fix. When i hit and stay in a certain RPM range, i get a bad vibration through the truck and a "whoom whoom whoom" not very fast like the spinning of the driveshaft.

I thought it might have been the U-Joints in the truck, but there is no play in either the front or rear driveshaft on my 5.7 limited. I get the vibration whether its cruising at or just shifting throught the 2-2300 rpm range, and also up around 2800-3000 rpm.

any ideas? i cant really tell if its coming from the front or the rear of the truck, thats how bad the truck vibrates. It makes me think its the rearend, but im just not sure.

Thanks in advance.

Josh

sounds like a bad driveshaft......there were some unbalanced/bad driveshafts installed

hmm, Yeah out of balance d-shaft sounds like it could be cause. Also might as well check out all the CV joints and maybe even the wheel bearings. Also fluids swaps may be in order if you havent done them at the intervals. Lots of times fluid leaks or old dirty fluid will cause one the of the diffs/tcase or trans to do things as you've described. Leaning towards those not being the culprit but the truck will love some fresh fluids if the time is near :) Anything rotational that takes force will wear obviously and then being to grind/hum/clunk etc etc. Very common, Im sure you will find the issue, just have to put the time and effort in to get - G/L with the diagnosis.

Sounds like the same problem I had on my 99 Cherokee Limited. Found the culprit by accident as I was topping off the transfer case level. I lost the weight off my driveshaft which I noticed while under the car. (Lucky driveshaft was in right position to see this or I might still be chasing it around.)
A cleanup and re-balance later and all vibration has ceased.

Good Luck with your diagnosis. :D
