For Those With Plasti-Dipped Wheels

Well my goal of getting SRT Reps will be most likely going away for this summer as I am going to be upgrading my 55 gallon aquarium to a 150+ gallon aquarium. My fish are beginning to outgrow my current tank and will be needing to upgrade this fall and can't afford to do both the wheels and the aquarium. So I'm looking for some pictures of those that have plasti-dipped their wheels as I may look to do this as an alternative. Also, how do you like them? Have you noticed any problems of balancing? Does anyone suggest not to do it? Thanks all!

There are a bunch of pics in those threads. I haven't done mine yet, but I also haven't heard of any issues either!

Here's my plasti-dip thread I started back in November.

Funny thing is I don't need to update any pictures because they look exactly the same. Even the parts I messed up around the edges that I haven't painted over still haven't peeled after many car washes, ski trips, and they have taken the abuse of this northeast winter very well. These have held me over, and continue to do so until I also can afford a set of black reps. :)

If you want more of a textured look and something a little different, here's a write up I did using duplicolor spray on bed liner on my wheels. Turned out great! It actually helped me out on trade in oddly enough!

never tried plastidip but from threads it seems to be holding up very well. I would suggest getting it painted

Here's another question, I have to get new tires in the next couple of months. Should I wait to plasti-dip the wheels until after I get the new tires since they will require a balancing? Or should I do them before I get the new tires and just do touch-ups?

I'd wait dude... The plastidip might get roughed up/peeled up when they are mounting the new tires.

That is what I will end up doing. Thanks for the info!

I love mine. Power washing, DD, and still holding up. Plasti dip before you paint since it can be removed easily if you dislike.

I just did my wheels last weekend, and so far I love them. Many people have asked me when I got new rims and when I tell them I did it myself they're shocked, especially when I tell them it only cost me $30:lol: I taped a little close to the rims around the edges, still have to touch that up but other than that it's all good.

Looks amazing! What did you use to fill the inside of the wheel to protect the caliper and rotor?
