dual zone windshield defrost question....

Just wanted to confirm that this is how other's system works:

press front defrost button. window defrosts (very well, i must say). press button again to turn off system - light on button doesn't turn off.

Is this correct? The only way to disengage the front defrost is to change the vent selector? Doesn't seem right.

The front defrost is a selection, not a switch like rear defrost so pressing it again will have no effect. You need to press Auto or another vent selection to deselect front defrost.

The last few cars I had with auto climate control did the same thing. I've always just press Auto when the window is defogged/defrosted for a long as I can remember.

ah, okay. thanks. my last few (and current) cars have had auto climate control, but they have all been able to deselect by cycling the button again.

no big deal. thanks again.

I run my system in manual mode (I don't press AUTO.) With front defrost on, if I hit the off button in the middle of the fan control then rotate the fan control to turn the system back on, defrost stays off.

this is exactly what i've been doing as well. Personally, I hate "climate control", i'd rather adjust for myself.
