HID fog not working...

i had thought one of my bulbs died in my fogs, so i ordered a new one and replaced it and it's still not working. is there anything i should check or do you guys think my ballast is bad...is there a way to test it?

try the 1st bulb in the other ballast. If bulb works there, then most likely ballast is bad, and make sure to check your connections also.

thanks. i went over the connections and didn't notice anything but i will do it again. i haven't tried plugging the bulb into the other ballast though, good thinking.

check the grounds first, then fuses, then bulbs, then ballasts

check those relays....usually the issue.

For me, happens all the time due to moisture

Re: HID fog not working...

Consider your specific setup... I know for my fogs I have a single relay harness for both balasts. My headlamps I have separate relay harenesses. That to say if you have a single relay harness to both and only one is not firing that would limit the issue to that one side, either an electrical connection, balast, bulb. If you have 2 individual harnesses you now have relay hareness integrity to consider along with the balast. Your most sure check for you balast is to remove it from where its mounted and swap the balast with the other side. Swapping the bulb would have been a good check before purchasing replacements, but considering your new ones are inop I would only swap the balast otherwise swapping the bulb will just tell you what you already know... the bulb is not the problem.

Fogs don't need a relay? Don't know why you guys have added that. The lowbeams DO, the fogs are a direct plug in.

When you turn on your lights listen to the ballast. You'll be able to tell if it's firing up or not. If not, clean the power connection plug to make sure its not corroding. If they're corroded, get a can of electrical parts cleaner and spray it in the connection, sometimes you may need to scratch the copper pins so the can make a good contact. I tape up all my plugs, but where I live the weather can get pretty bad.

Also never touch the bulb with your bare hands. The oil from hour skin will shorten the life drastically.

some WKs require a relay for fogs and some do not

co-sign-

before i installed mine... i read all about this and that and "you dont need this and that" for the installs...so i went ahead and got prepared anyways with my kit from steve.

Long behold- i needed the relay and the kit as it didnt plug and play for my jeep. but i always had to use a replay on my jeeps.

edit- i forgot why im even in here.... when i installed mine, i had a loose connection on one of my grounds.... i tightened the bolt and i was good to go, problem free since. could be something like that IMO-

gl though-
