Air suspension noise in front end

This noise is heard mainly at speeds above 60 mph and is more noticeable on roads with expansion joints. I would describe it as a high pitch "ping" and I also notice a slight amount of vibration through the steering wheel. I was wondering if anyone else had this and what the solution was.
I've only had my wk2 for a couple of weeks and I'm not too happy driving this thing on the highway because of this.
thx,
Brian.

I think I've head that same noise on a test drive. I believe it's normal for the air suspension - it was def a noticeable noise (not very loud tho)

I have not heard such a noise. 23,000 kms, 6+ months. Then again, my high frequency hearing is not great, and radio usually on.

Sometimes after shutdown, there are a few minor sounds as the vehicle levels itself.

Is it like either of these?

Mine sounds more like a ping through the suspension when you hit expansion joints. It is most noticeable at higher speeds. The higher pitch drives me crazy.

I took my Jeep in for service. They are going to check with engineers and also road test a new vehicle. They at least say they hear the same noise.

Which tires are you running. I noticed a change in the sound made over certain things like expansion joints when I went from Goodyear to Yokohama to Michelin. The Goodyear's had a higher pitched "ping" compared to the Michelin's which is more of a "thud".

I'm on the Goodyears. I also checked the tire pressure and set to spec.

So the service guy took a new Overland for a drive and said he heard the same noise coming off of the front end. He's waiting on Engineering to get back to him with advice. I'll post more once I know more.

I'm still waiting on my new Michelin Latitudes to come in. In my opinion those 20" Foteria's are not the greatest. The problem is there is not a lot of options out there. From what I am told the Latitudes in this size have been discontinued but are still available. I have a slight vibration in mine at about 70 mph that comes and goes until the tires are hot then it goes away.

Doesn't Yokohama, Continental, and Bridgestone make tires in this size that are rated much better that the Goodyear or Michelin offering?

I just wanted to put in an update to my issue. After about 11,000 kms I must say that I do not notice the noise much anymore. I just drove it on the same road I noticed the problem on and the ping like sound is gone. Not sure if it was the tires or the vehicle being broken in now.

Re: Air suspension noise in front end

i know it's been a while, but any updates on this or did it entirely go away? I'm dealing with it with my '11 overland and I believe a few others have noted similar hwy noise issues. It sound like it's tires related, but when testing different speeds, under accel, decel, changing lanes, etc. it doesn't seem to alter the sound which makes me think it's not tire related. I'm just over 8k miles.
