various questions from new owner

hi everyone

i've recently purchased a late 2005 model grand cherokee crd ltd and i've got a few questions i'm hoping you can help me to answer...

i think my car has the stock REF stereo, which i would like to replace with a unit that plays mp3's and has an aux in socket. the REQ stereo looks ideal. i've seen this stereo for sale on ebay which looks like a REQ but with a single cd/dvd slot. however, the part number (05064925AF) isn't listed on the wk radios page. can anyone confirm whether or not it's likely to work? and if so, would it be suitable as a straight swap for the REF?

my friend has a vw golf and he can alter the power steering, alarm settings, etc using a diagnostic cable and some software on his laptop. are there any tweaks you can do using an obd cable and scanner on a grand cherokee? or is it purely for retrieving information from the vehicle?

my drivers window button says auto, but it only automatically goes down. you have to hold the button to raise the window back up. is this normal?

finally, i'm really keen on getting some side steps. i like the look of these satin finish extruded aluminium steps with black moulded finishings. do you have any advice or experience with choosing side steps?...

i am not sure if they make tuners for the diesel. unless you are going to lift it, side steps are kind of useless. the radio is a straight swap. 2005s only have auto down, in order to get auto up you would need a switch from a 2008-2010 and a new driver door harness.

x2... my 05' Limited is driver's side down only. Not sure if it's worth upgrading.

My "08 functions in auto going both up and down....not sure what would need to be replaced to up-grade...it could be a big $ deal because of the "kid's head in the way" sensors.

You need the switch, the modual, and the wiring harness for the door. NOT worth anywhere near what it would cost to do it.
