Alpine Premium System for Jeep WK2

Stumbled on this weblink after looking forever for one previously. See other related threads in this subforum for further info.

Thanks for that. Too bad we don't have more control over system. Can only adjust bass, mid-range, treble and balance, fade.

Moosehead, how's your new sound system?

Agreed with you both, but I get the feeling that Chryco blew the execution of otherwise decent OEM Alpine gear in the WK2. It will be interesting to see what HK does differently for the 2012 SRT8.

Milebout, the audio upgrades have been tremendous once you get over the unknown spec and wiring diagram of the WK2 for install. I'd suggest trying the following in order of priority and potential payback, though I did most all of it. Many have done more.

1) Requisite to replace the stock plastic sub enclosure as top priority. It is flexible and therefore distorts any bass being pushed by the stock setup. This alone may improve sonic quality by a good exponent.

2) The stock 500 watt Alpine Amp is diluted through too many speakers with perhaps inadequate crossover and/or too many bridged speakers. Just getting more power is a huge improvement to audio quality, and I'm not a ground pounder music dood.

3) Though the Alpine speakers and sub are decent, upgrading the front door speakers is key since that is the driver's sound stage focus. That said, if you just did the first two items above, you'd be much happier with stock.

4) A 10" or 12" sub, though the stock 8" may be fine with a solid sub enclosure and more power.

YMMV.
