Nav System

Hi New member Old lurker. I have a 05 GC with the factory Nav REC system. It worked fine till one day......The AM works-had it on when all else died. Pretty well the AM and Volume is all that works D.A. else.
Contacted a Chrysler dealer here in Canada as to replacement. Sit down you'll thank me later. $4500 seriously!!!!!!!!! I hope they can at least throw in the KY for free. Just wondering if anyone here might have experience with one of these and what $$$extras$$$ needed to install and work with the steering mounted remote?

If I were you I would attempt to get a new Nav unit off eBay or somewhere else and just install it yourself as it's basically like pulling off one panel 4 screws and I think 3 plugs and replace. I think the procedure is on wkjeeps.com radio removal

Here's one brand new, on sale $1999

Plus if you change the head unit and had a Boston premium Audio the jeep May have to Be rewired to bypass the amp but I'm not a stereo guy. I like using the stereo controls on the wheel so I leave the rec nav in there and if it ever goes bad I'll just have to buy a new unit to replace it. Plus how else are you gonna get that signature
Jeep logo to come on when you power up the unit!

I have tired from waiting for a reply on time and $ to repair my REC Nav so i bought one of these. http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/PU...on/AVIC-Z130BT. Seems to work fine and got a smokin deal on it at a dealer. Perhaps Chrysler will buy the radio off me as a rebuild item? Thanks to all that replied.

I have a 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland with the 430n. Can you operate the navigation system alone with other audio interference? At certain times I would like the Navigation audio promps to be louder than the radio I am listening to. I woul;d like the Navigation promps to have increased volume or simply turn the radio off and just adjust the navigation system to be at the volume level I need. Does anyone know if this is possible?

im pretty sure that in my parents commander they have the rec nav system that when the nav is telling you to turn if you have the radio on it will lower the volume of the radio while the voice command goes through

Yes, this is slightly off topic and my apologies, but I was just rollin around in the mountains with a neighbor kid... well I call him kid because I grew up next door to him, hes actually 21... anyway he is having a grand ol' time messing with the nav then all the sudden "ummm, what did I do" he says... he caused the common joystick failure, down is hit and miss and I have no zoom function now.

I really like having it factory, but if I am going to spend 550 bucks on a used deck I think I would rather get an aftermarket unit.... then I run into the problem of my rear dvd. Crappy.
