Instrument cluster question

Anyone know what the A/S and 1 2 3 4 5 are supposed to indicate? They are right below the trip/odometer (Item @20).

Possibly what gear the transmission is in? I've never seen this come on in my Jeep.

I have searched and have not been able to find any information about it. Possibly an indicator for the overseas models? I was hoping it could be a gear indicator...

Re: Instrument cluster question

Yes, its not an american cluster thats for sure... hell #1 is not what our parking brake lamp looks like, engine coolant temp gauge is in celcius, and oil pressure is in bar... On that topic I have actually just had 2 canadian wjs through my shop I worked on with very similar clusters, I couldnt figure out for the life of me if they are clearly made different, why is MPH still the bold number on the speedo, when goofy canadians us kilometers?

I would imagine the a/s stands for auto shift, a feature I have not heard of on a wj before. So as mentioned I will take the bat and swing at this lifeless horse... its got to be an export.

It could be a misprint too, maybe something that was in the works but never came into fruition, who knows... no really who knows? Im asking ;)

wait there is a diesel wj?

On mine too, really need to get the sun shining right on it to see it tho.

It is used as tranny shift indications on the RAMs IIRC from seeing AirRam's vids on YT, could be wrong though.

Ooh, I've never noticed if I have that. Suppose I should go and have a look...:o

Just realised, that's the area where my cruise indicator comes on!

i think in europe the have the auto stick on the WJ's, might be for that, might be a never-turned-on feature, who knows, would have been sweet tho

Re: Instrument cluster question

I have that on my gauge set as well, but I have not seen it function. I am wondering if this would not be a question for the engineer section. My guess is that it is an Automatic Shift Indicator telling us what gear the trans is in at any one time. My Overland goes thru five shifts and so maybe it was some sort of indication that never was finished.
