Switch Locations?
Im installing two aftermarket switches in the WK, one for my emergency lights and the other one for future use. I wanna put them in the little cubby next to the shifter. I have a switch plate that they fit on that I can fit in there and it woiuld look pretty clean but im wondering about other locations. I searched and only found a few so if anyone can help with pics or advise that would be great.

Re: Switch Locations?
next to the shifter can be dicey if you need depth for your swithes and wiring.

i have a thread here somewhere but here is a few pic/
I had to put spacers on my switches to raise them up to fit in the shifter.

if it just 2 switches I might try the cubby in FRONT OF the shifter. i have one in the top that I use to turn my nav on and off.

if you want them to show making a panel for that cubby should be easy compared to the shifter. if i could do it over i would use that cubby in front of the shifter

here is my one switch in the cubby in front of the shifter. there is dwef room for 2 and the wiring has a ton of space.

Re: Switch Locations?
Saguaro 4x Components has a plate for switches, for the cubby left of the steering wheel. I plan on getting it for my light switches.

Re: Switch Locations?
Another option is somthing like this. I might explore this option when i start doing my external lighting.

Re: Switch Locations?
Rob, heres what I planned on putting in that cubby next to the shifter, It sits at a slight tilt toward the driver so clearance is not an issue. I just wired everything up a few mins ago, I soldered the wires on and put heat shrink tubing over everything. I just have to get out to the jeep when I have some spare time to take it apart to wire it up. For perspective... the caps over the switches will be flipping open toward the passenger door, which with the angle the plate is tilted at give plenty of clearance for the wiring.

Re: Switch Locations?
I know this isn't where you want to install yours, but I just figured I'd post pics in case you change your mind :p I installed them here because they're next to my other light switches and I wanted them all in the same location. I know other users have installed them inside the cubby area which is a lot nicer than mine because they're stealth, but I wanted them more readily available.

Re: Switch Locations?
How did you get in behind there to wire them up?

Re: Switch Locations?
I pulled the cubby out and then under the steering wheel, there's a panel that pulls down and then eventually, off. It takes a whopping 20-30 seconds and you can't really mess it up.

Re: Switch Locations?
you have to remove the top of the shifter. there are writeup here, its 3 torx 20 unless you have the 4wd LO then you got to ttake the whole console off to get to 2 screws that come up under that.

wkjeeps has writeups on removing all the trim/
