'00 42RE Tranny vs. '96 43RE Tranny

I'm helping a friend out with her 2000 Grand Cherokee V6. Question: I found a 1996 42RE transmission on CraigsList and wanted to know if the 1996 will bolt up to the 2000 model without any issues (harness, ETC).

Thanks-

JF

I don't think it will? Plus why would you want to kind of downgrade? They shift points would also be a bit harder on the older model Trannys. I have current 96' ZJ. Try and find onefrom the years 99-01.

I was thinking since both transmission were model 42RE that they were interchangeable across years and models (Similar to the Wrangler AX-15). Plus price is right from Craig's List with a torque converter and the TCM.

I wouldn't do it, but it's completely up to you!

It's not the same trans. There are differences in the valve body and sensors. I would keep looking.
