Oil and filter v6

What oil and filter are you all using in your WK2's? I am a synthetic guy who likes to change my own oil. If there is already a topic on this then point me in the right direction, I ran a search and came up with nothing.

Thanks!

The book says 5w-30 anyone try 0w-30? I am a very big fan of 0w oils due to the quickness your engine gets to its lubricating viscosity.

IIRC it actually says 5w-20... but either should be fine. Now that the price on 0W is pretty much the same as 5w its not a huge investment to make. Also most manufactures are switching to the 0w ie. Most Toyotas are now 0w -- With 10k Maintenance schedules.

Either way, you'll be fine.

5W-20 oil is for the Hemi. The V6 uses 5W-30.

I've been running Mobil-1 0W-30 for the past 10000 miles to no ill effect.

B. Unlike V8's, V6's oil filter is located on LEFT a little above the bottom of the engine. (Left means driver side.). Only accessible from the bottom. You need a 36mm socket and a 6mm allen. If you don't want to remove a 6mm allen-fittable middle-silver plug, drain the oil first, and leave the engine plug open over night. In this way, all dirty oil will be drained thoroughly. I never open the filter before oil plug.

I thought the filter for the V6 was removed from the top under the hood. Seems like a pretty easy job if that is the case.

I'm confused, my filter is on top of my motor. The flow through filter is easy to change.

I changed the oil in my 3.6L WK2 this past weekend. I bought a Mopar MO-744 filter from the dealer as I could not locate a 3rd party filter for the 3.6L Pentastar yet.

The Mopar MO-744 filter is really well made. Cost 10$

The filter on the 3.6L is on top. See here : http://wk2jeeps.com/engine/3.6L_oil_...ter_change.pdf

The Pentastar V6 is an incredibly well thought out and built engine. It's 3.6L not 3.5L and is exclusive to Chrysler(except for the Volks minivan).
