clicking noise when reversing - help

when i put my jeep in reverse i hear a clicking noise... sounds like its coming from my front wheels... sounds kind of like a playing card in the spokes of a bicycle... i looked underneath and didn't see a stick or any protrusions that might cause the noise, its pretty annoying  any ideas are much appreciated.

thanks guys

ps. the noise was there before the lift

I heard a noise once come from there... Mine sounded like I was dragging a tin can by a string. Turned out to be the tranny. Needed the fluid changed and the electrical seal replaced.
