Paint pricing question

Is $280 too much to pay for an already primed bumper to be painted? Im converting to the '08+ style and need to get this bumper done, it's the last step in my conversion I have everything else. my paint codes (black clear coat) if that affects the price at all.... Thanks for the help in advance

IIRC, i had my rear bumper painted by the DEALER for around $220-$250ish.

Okay thanks I figured it's about as cheap as I'm gonna find without going into sketchy painting shops just wanted to check.

yea, when i need my rear bumper painted, i checked a few places around me which some seemed a bit sketchy. I remembered one conversation i had with a shop manager, that their place do all kinds of expensive cars, Benz, BMW, Lexus. He told me he'll get it VERY close to the factory color but wont be exact. Looked at him for a while and left lol.

The price was very close between my dealer and the other shops, decided to pay a few more $$ and not have any surprises when it's done.

Lol I had similar experiences calling around the one guy told me he had to see the bumper i was like why it's bumper and then he said he couldn't quote it over the phone I was like alright definitely not calling you back. But most places were about the same for me too I just wanted to make sure that was the norm before I started callin farther away places I agree though I figured best bet is the dealer they'll at least use the oem colors and stuff

Re: Paint pricing question

well getting a quote over the phone is hard. A Grand Cherokee bumper is much larger than say a Honda civic. So I can see why they said they wanted to see it first. Maybe he wasn't able to picture how big it would be and didn't want to under/over quote you. I would say he's just being honest.

Re: Paint pricing question

I wasn't asking for an exact amount I wanted a round about cost. And they were very unprofessional about it the guy told me they wouldn't be able to look at it to give me a quote for weeks cause they were backed up I think he was just lazy and didn't feel like looking up the information which is fine with me cause he lost a customer not my problem. And this shop is pretty big around here there is no reason why he shouldn't have been able to give me a quote on the bumper of a fairly common car.
