WK2 Hemi 0-60

This horse was dead and shipped to the glue factory a while ago, I think:lol:.
For those interested, a video was posted of a Hemi WK2 on a 0-60 run. Looks like 7sec flat. I hate cell phone video but it's legible. I bet it could have been quicker if they would have stood a bit more on the throttle before taking off. The Tow/Haul appears engaged and it looks like 5100 miles on the odometer (fresh engine). Is this from anyone on JeepGarage?

I have been hard pressed to find an official spec for the 0-60 time of the Hemi.

LOL, yeah, maybe with a 6.4 swap :D

Most of the major car mags [Motor Trend, Car and driver, Road and Track, et al] have done their own tests and have clocked from 7.4 to 7.7, not very good . Mags have critisized the transmission and weight. 2012 6 speed may help.

And those magazines correct their times, so they say.

But I watched this real-world video with my cell phone stopwatch in hand (three times), I got an average time of 7.2 seconds. That's really respectable with the weight you're pulling.

And it was 67* outside when you did that. I be you could run a sub seven second zero to sixty on a colder day.

Well, I found an "official" 0-63mph (0-100km/h) time in the German brochure. The HEMI is listed at 8.7 sec. which should equal a 0-60 time of about 8.5 sec.

The top-speed is listed at 225km/h which equals about 140mph.

well that is "Officially" wrong. :)

I don't know how fast it is but my Jeep with the Hemi has beat my 4-banger Ford Fusion automatic by 4 car length to 60mph, a 2011 F250 Diesel by 3 car lengths to 80mph, and lost very bad to a new mustang GT by about 10(or more) car lengths on a highway run of 50-110mph. :)

I'm not sure how they arrived at that number but 8.5 sec seems to be the 0-60 time of the Pentastar, not the Hemi. Not fast, but quick enough for most purposes. The Hemi models seem to be coming in at 7.5 sec on the high end, closer to 7 sec on the low.

I remember some years back Road & Track would post "meaningful differences" in their stat table; as in, how much of a difference should one consider major. Sure, a 0.1 sec difference means you still lose the race, but unless you are on a drag strip or in an actual race, the driver really won't notice anything less than about a 0.5 sec difference (which was about what they said was the meaningful difference in the 0-60 time).

The Pentastar is listed at 9.1 sec. for 0-63.

I noticed that the HP-numbers are slightly off. It's nothing unusual that identical engines get a different rating in Germany compared to the US, but generally, the German HP-number tends to be a bit higher than the one in the US.

However, they are rating the Pentastar at 286HP (instead of 290) and the HEMI at 352HP (instead of 360).

Here's the official source:

Oh, BTW, check out the MSRP for the HEMI in Germany. Although tax is included, 63,000 Euros is quite a difference!
