2000 4.7 weird sound (maybe brake related)

Guys looking for some help with my dad's WJ (2000 V8). He has told me about hearing a sound when he releases the brake pedal. Today I got to hear it 1st hand. When he takes his foot off the brake pedal you hear a low frequency buzzing sound. When foot is on the brake there is no sound, when released the sound starts. It's within the cabin, sounds like possibly under the drivers side of the dashboard. Sounds like something electronic. With the windows closed the sound is heard as well, so I don't think it is from outside. He also said that it seems to be lasting longer, and today at 1 point he had shut the jeep off, and pulled key from ignition and the sound continued.
Any ideas?
thanks in advance

Can it be a vacuum leak from the brake booster? Will the sound stop after a minute or so after switching off the engine?

the sound didn't continue after the engine was shut off except for 1 time, but this sound has stopped for a couple days now, ugh. Now on Friday when he was driving, he had a new issue. The headlights were set to auto-on and he was driving around middle of the day and they came on and went off a couple of times. When he parked, he turned jeep off and before he exiting the lights came on. He then set the headlights to off. Gotta look into why they are coming on when they aren't required.

The headlights are controlled via the BCM. The BCM uses a light sensor to switch the headlights in auto position. The sensor is mounted in the center of the defroster grill close to the windshield. Any dirt or something on it?
It can also be the multi function switch.
