Do any of you guys have a V1? I'm considering upgrading the the V1, and I'm right on the edge of doing it but I figured I'd have you guys sell me on ut if you have one!

i bought mine in 1999.

in 03 i sent it in for an update. was like 90 bux.

in 07 when i got the ghost I sent it in for an update and they replaced the whole thing with a new one. i paid 199 for this upgrade.

2011 its still going strong/

I personally love my Escort Passport 8500x50..

Range is crazy good, and doesnt pick up stray signals very often. I got the one with Blue LED.

But I've heard good things about Valentines also

i thing range is good forward. behind is a bit lacking what with tinted rear window and such/ but its rare they a clocking you from the rear........unless they are LOCKED ON already LOL

a lot of the FREE or cheap upgrades are to the original owner only/ so be careful. in 99 i paid like 400 for it. ii dont think its much more today

Yea they are 400$ new which is steep so if I can find one that's even a little old for 350 or less I'd take it. Ill prob just bit it and get the new one ;)

Re: Valentine 1 Radar Detector?

The Valentine is old tech. The only thing it can do is determine which way a radar signal is coming, something that someone with some time with a radar detector could do. For the price of a Valentine, you could spend a little bit more money and get a Escort 9500 with smart filter that automatically blocks out a false alert.

For how I would be using it I disagree. Im in a rural area where im looking for K band range, the V1 bosses at distance in the K band, I dont have to worry about falses around here that often.

Meh, 5 mile range with false alerts vs 4 mile range with no false alert. To each its own.

Re: Valentine 1 Radar Detector?

And it's going to pick up more than only k band as a false signal
