Overland Lemon Update

I have posted a few threads about my 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland. The issue was a battery drain coming from the rear lift gate. The dealership was able to isolate the problem and switched out the lift gate module. Unfortunately this did not fix the battery drain issue. At this point the Chrysler techs were called to troubleshoot. Their answer was to replace all 22 wiring harness in the Jeep. This would require the entire interior to be removed. Before I could even get a hell no out of my mouth the service manager was on the phone telling them no way. All 22 wiring harnesses were not even available. They agreed to replace the three wiring harness that feed the lift gate. This would require the entire ass end of the jeep to be disassembled. When I went to get something out of the glovebox I was shocked. My brand new jeep (2400 miles) was in a pile on the shop floor. The entire cargo area, rear number cover, rear seat, front passenger seat, tail light, etc... were in a pile. At this point I did not want the jeep back. I notified my case manager from Chrysler that we were approaching 30 days and they agreed enough was enough and the request was submitted to replace the vehicle. Within a few days I was called by the resolution center and the replacement is in the works. This is definitely a shift from my usual experience with this kind of issue. I applaud Chrysler for stepping up and fixing the problem without me needing to file Lemon Law paperwork. For what its worth the jeep was fixed in 31 days and the issue is resolved however the rattles and scrapped in the interior are to much for me to change my mind. The issue was a short in the main wiring harness that feed the Lift gate.

Wow. Good call on the replacement. That Jeep will never be the same no matter how hard they tried to do it right. Do not let them try to weasle out of the replacement and offer you some sort of incentive to stay in your same Overland.

Re: Overland Lemon Update

and the reason IS.......a lemon is counted as such as goes into vehicle history reports and numbers. so they want to try to keep that number as low as posssible until a feww more hooks are sank. soon they will give up on that an revert back to the old ways.

Re: Overland Liftgate Issue

Great news about getting a repalcement Jeep! I have a similar issue related to the liftgate on my 2011 Grand Cherokee Overland with 5.7L. Since I took delivery 3 weeks the auto liftgate has not worked. They tried replacing the struts and now the liftgate module. No luck. The dealer is at a loss and has called in Chrysler for help.

Has anyone on this thread had a similar issue with their lifgate and a potential solution?
