Radar power rear view mirror

I have tried to search these forums but i could not find a clean cut answer to this question. I have a 2005 WK GC and I want to power my Radar Detector from the harness going in to the rear view mirror. I know which connector to use, the long thin one on the lower part of the mirror but i am not sure which colored wires to connect to, acc power and a ground. Also would it be ok to run the power cord from the Detector to the rear view mirror without an inline fuse? Sorry if this question is repetative.

Black is ground and the pink striped wire is power.

You could also very easily extend the wires and run them down the A-pillar on the drivers side right to the fuse box.

I placed mine in the upper left corner of the winsheild, ran the wire down the pillar, and installed an accessory plug near the fusebox. Didn't even need to cut the cord on the radar for mine so the inline fuse is still intact. Plus, if you want to update your radar the old one just unplugs and a new one goes right in.

Thanks for the info. I will have to sleep on what route to take, I have mounted my detector to the black box on the auto dim highbeam sensor by modifying the mounting bracket and drilling two holes attatched with small bolts, very sturdy. It just seemed by going to the mirror power would be easiest but I was concerned about no inline fuse as a precautionary measure. I could put the fuse inline from the mirror to the detector. I will decide tomorrow, thanks again.

Iv got my valentine 1 mounted on the dot matrix in front of the mirror, but I wired it from a custom switched power source I made near the fuse panel inside the cabin and ran the wiring up the a pillar to the V1

The rear mirror power works like a charm. I did manage to pop a fuse because as normal i was in a hurry and forgot to turn off the ignition while i was testing the connections. This is the first time since i got the GC new back in 2005 that i have had to go under the drivers side to replace one and all i have to say is who the hell decided to mount in there? Must have been designed by Carnies. Circus folk. Nomads, you know. Smell like cabbage. Small hands.

Thanks again for the info i will post some pics as soon as i get a chance.

Is the mirror power switched? I'm not sure if I'd wanna do that because I'd lose the use of a concealed display with the valentine, I have the little box with the accessory port mounted under my dash. (See my install thread)

EASY, use the two wires on the bottom left (passenger side) of the mirror's power cables (black is ground obviously)

Is the mirror switched power I'm assuming?
