Stillen Covers

i think they are called stillen covers that cover the amber light where your blinkers are.

When i turn my blinker on it looks like even if i had a stillen cover on it would still be very visible.

Does the stillen covers really make the blinker hard to see?

Re: Stillen Covers

I haven't seen them in person. But I did look into them when they came out. From what I can tell it would be similar to blacked out tail lights. They will appear all black when the light is off, but the amber will show through when lit. (obviously not as bright though) More than anything, I think you lose the reflective aspect of the turn signal.

you can mod/(cut) a hole where the light is suppose to blink when turned on. If not, you wont be able to see any light.

what year is yours?

this is the cover for the 08+

Re: Stillen Covers

So the stillins are opaque? Are they painted or just black plastic?

Also Davy, in your sig pic, did you crack open you headlights and paint the lower chrome trim on the inside? Or is that just a shadow? I ask because I'm thinking about doing a Projector HID conversion and was going to paint that lower piece while I had them apart.

Opaque- –adjective 1. not transparent or translucent ; impenetrable to light; not allowing light to pass through.

I'm just sayin........ don't get belligerant with me now.

And I'm not talkin' about the bumper. I was refering to the lower chrome piece inside the headlight. Not in the pic he posted, but in his sig pic (and his avatar too I guess.)

yep, i baked and opened up the housing and painted that part along with the turns signal section(Avatar) The pic with the stillens was with unmodded headlights. There's a How to thread started by JDubya if you are interested.

No issues with the paint bubling over time from the heat of the lamps?

Re: Stillen Covers

i used engine enamel paint just for that reason. Just make sure to prep it before applying basecoat

Re: Stillen Covers

I put some tint film on the inside of the stillen cover where i cut the hole for the blinker light to come through. It looks great when the lights arent on cuz you wont see the amber and then with the lights on it still comes through but not as bright.
