The creation of the Alpine Mountian Edition

Ok, I have never made a build thread. So please bear with me as I try to paint the history of my 2005 WK Limited 4.7. I have pics of most of the mods and I will try to keep it in order of how it happened, but I will start at the begining.

In Janurary of 2008 I purchased a lease turn in 4.7 limited. it only had 13,000 miles and per the dealership, they got it in in 05, sat on the lot for 6 months then they leased it for 2 years, got it back and the people took an 08. So, they had it on the lot for over 6 months they first were asking 26k for the wk, by the time I got there they were willing to sell it for 17,500. I think it was a great deal.

So this is what it looked like when I first got the blue bomber:

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...77e98355ef.jpg

my first mod was a few at one time, I had a sky jacker 2"bb, 265/70/17 mickey thompson a/t tires, dick cepek dc-1 blacks and a bull bar installed

shortly after I added the Rolla rack roof top basket. I really was not happy with the all chrome bull bar; so I sanded, primed and painted the bull bar to a better look I think. I also added a 2" steel block to lower the bull bar so it no longer blocked the front plate.

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...rontdriver.jpg

I then added the altezza style rear tails, with aries brush guards
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a.../jeep/back.jpg

the next mod I did is photoless; I installed a K&N CIA and had tuffy install a magnaflow replacement muffler

the next mod was stillen headlight covers, had them professionally cut and painted. It was a big fail for them:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...p/IMG_0094.jpg

they did correct the mistake but I still had to pay for new stillens because According to them I told them to cut on those lines and not the side marker lines. total bs and found a new body shop since.

Oh, forgot I got stuck in the snow:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...p/IMG_0097.jpg
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...bloom/0292.jpg

This was the second time that I had broken the front bumper cover on the jeep, it was time for some armour, so I added 4x guard side rails and started doing research on front bumpers. on the other fronts, I added a rer my gig and sub in the trunk
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/SNC00005.jpg

the my gig would not sinc up with the clock for some reason, so I sold it and went with a kenwoods dnx 7140. pics of that later when jeep is finshed.

so the saguaro 4x front bumper was ordered, 2nd off the line and the side rails went on. front bumper and mud guards came off

Re: The creation of the Alpine Mountian Edition

^^^forgot to meantion. the photo above also has a few other mods done. Swapped the Skyjacker 2" BB for a OME HD coil lift, the DC-1's started to flake and it was under warrenty so I traded them back and got some XD Addicts instead (better offset) and I could not stand the howl of the Mickey's so I opted for some 275/70/17 goodyear silent armour.

next on the list was to lose the ricer tails and add some WH tails
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/P4210019.jpg

added a gobi ladder to the hatch
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/IMG_0117.jpg
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/IMG_0116.jpg

swapped out my chrome grill for a color matched but added the chrome surround. I also put in some pepboy mesh:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/P4210013.jpg

now it was time to move back inside:
swapped my light grey leather peeling wheel for a khaki wood overland wheel from a commander
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/94dfef7c.jpg
also swapped out the other limited wood for the overland wood
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a..._bloom/133.jpg
hers a pic of the kenwood deck
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/PB120007.jpg
forgot to meantion I have the JL Audio Stealbox, no pic sorry. Again When the new transformation is done I will post pics of all the mods

So some time has passed since my last mod, but the Xoom came out and I had to have one. I wanted to mount it in my car and wanted to figure a way to get it to mirror on my head unit. Check and Check.

http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...-05-42_235.jpg
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...0-21-01_42.jpg

BTW, off roading can and will "F" up your jeep. Went on a light jont and slammed my front end in a ditch, even with the OME HD I slammed my tires in to the fender, busted both fenders up. This made me decide to quit beating my DD and treat her like a woman and not some street trash. SO I am currently begining my next mods the creation of the alpine mountain edition. So there will be some teasers on the next post.

Re: The creation of the Alpine Mountian Edition

here is what is on my plate now. Doing a 08+front end with painted projecter HID's, adding a WH rear bumper, removing a lot of crap, color matching my side rails. With all the mods I have done inside and out I feel that this is no longer a WK Limited, But a US version of a "Alpine Mountain Edition" WH. There is no such animal, the US had a Rocky Mountain Edition and the Alps are the biggest chain in Europe. If an Aussie want to chime in with a better mountain chain feel free the badges are yet to be made.

Here are some teaser pics:
Headlights just picked up today from paint, will assemble Sunday and install next week:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...-09-02_880.jpg

had the side marker painted but left a little area for blinker light:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...-08-41_510.jpg
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...-08-50_997.jpg

here is my idea for badging:
change this:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...oom/alpine.jpg
to this:
http://i989.photobucket.com/albums/a...om/alpine1.jpg

for the side rails:

sorry for the long post, I have wanted to do this for some time

Where did you get your clear tails? Have you replaced them with WH tails yet?

the WH tails are in the photos. the clear I got off ebay, had to reuse the lighting fixture, only the housing came. They are ok for a bit but I got sick of them, and sold them.
