FCW sensor failure

I have a 2011 Overland Summit....the message center says "Service Radar Sensor"....Taking it in on Monday...but just before it failed I installed a redar detector and the very instant I started the vehicle with the new detector installed...this message came up...Is it possible the radar detector created the problem?

I'd say so. I wouldn't tell that story to the dealer! Might wanna remove the installed radar detector before taking it in.

how did you INSTALL this detector?

in the wk we have posts about a usbcharger that goess in the lighter causinga sensor issue. I dont recall the exact thing but......are you using the lighter or where did you tap for power.

Re: FCW sensor failure

Got the power right off a new fuse under the hood...Nothing in the service manual about not using a radar detector so they are fixin' it...I'll update after wed this week...

It doesn't matter if you're allowed to have one or not. But if they find that they're correcting your mistake then they will probably make you pay.

Shoulda just tapped into the mirror for power..very simple and quick

Re: FCW sensor failure

It really doesn't matter where the power is derived from....the isue is a radar detector will confuse and fail the radar sensor for vehicles with Forward Collision Warning and Adaptive Cruise Control....there should be [and probably will be] verbage in the owners manual...I'm not paying for it...not even sure if that is the cause...will know tomorrow and let everyone know...

 How? A radar detector only receives radar signals, it doesn't transmit any.

some let some radar out; my V1 will pick it up the ones that bleed.

like in VA. they can nail you even with a hidden one.

Just got the Jeep back...cruise control module failure...nothing to do with the radar sensor....back ordered and common problem...

Brought it in for the fix and they changed the sensor #50638911-ah..now I'm not sure if I should re-install my redar detector...ant ideas?

I just had my forward collision module replaced and my radar detector is back in action. No problems.
