Should I get Chrome or Black side steps?

I would like to get the side steps now because getting my kayaks on top is becoming a bit of a chore. I am only 5'7 so i have been using a milk crate to stand on and. Do you guys/gals think adding the chrome steps is too much chrome? The Black would serve the purpose just as well, and easier to touch up when they get scratched on the bottom.

I've always done 100% stainless for lake effect winter driving in my truck. Bought one set of black powdercoated and they rusted like crazy. Switched to pure stainless and havent had an issue for years and they still look new. Not sure if they make 100% stainless in a style you like but for up north they are worth it, just my .02...

I have seen numerous pictures of black vs. chrome on various Jeep colors and black steps look terrible on most. Ultimately, if it's a money issue or you don't want the impression that you are pimping your ride because of all the chrome, then buy the black. Otherwise, wait, save more money and go with the chrome.

Note, I was driving on the highway in NY couple of weeks ago and a 2011 Bright Silver Metallic Jeep with black steps was driving beside my 2011 Brilliant Black with chrome steps and all the while he was staring at my steps instead of the road ahead. It's very clear, he was thinking 'I wish I had gotten chrome steps instead'. On the other hand, I was thinking 'those black steps look terrible'.

Does Mopar not offer molded running boards like WK1? They look WAY better than tube steps.

Chrome, no doubt.

I bought a 2011 Bright Silver Metallic Limited on July and it came with the chrome package which includes the chrome side steps. Going into the dealer I wanted no sidesteps at all but I ended up buying this particular vehicle since it was the only Bright Silver Metallic Limited with Black Interiors on the lot.

I even asked the salesperson if they would remove the side steps so that I could sell it but after owning the car for 24 hours, I was convinced that they looked REALLY nice and are useful to get into the car (for my parents) and also to clean the roof. So I decided to keep them.

I have seen the black and I don't like it at all.

I like both but bought the chrome. I was worried about the black rusting, not sure if thats a valid concern.
