2007 CRD - My first service - Suggestions?

Hey guys,

Taking my baby in for her first service. I am having zero issues, and she is running smooth at 38k miles. The thing was serviced back around 28k miles by the previous owner.

I want to know what I should get done and what they should check out. What type of oil, etc.... any tips and tricks. Any help is great since I am in California and NOBODY has seen a CRD here. Makes for a cool Jeep.... but I may need to do some hand-holding with my service guys.

Thanks in advance!

You must use the correct MB spec oil. I run Mobil 1 Formula M ESP.

Where in LA are you? If your close to the IE, Ontario Jeep services Sprinters regularly. They carry the proper oils, filters etc in stock.

I am in Santa Monica area. Ontario is a bit far. I will call them and ask if they have somewhere local to help with this. Also... does anyone know anything about the swirl valve on these things?

get your self a k an N filter, the turbos love air flow and getting rid of the stock paper filter will lessen problems like high turbo temps.

Got it. I'll do that. So for now I'll do the synthetic oil change ($$$), and a K&N to help her breath. Thanks guys.

Get the TC and Diffs changed if not now at your next service (if it wasn't done before). Also I would do the oil yourself. You can buy (at least in canada) 20 liter pails for about 120 bucks (probably less in US) thats enough for 2 oil changes. The oil change takes about 30 minutes because you need to put 1/2 into where the filter goes - SLOW -. You may not want too do it yourself but it'll save you alot of money in the end. Always use the approved oil and filter. I always go with the BENZ filter. After comparing to the aftermarket ones you'll probably decide the same. So thats 100$ for an oil change. I would be paying over 200 if I took it anywhere.

What oil are you using? I use the PETRO DURON-E 0W40 Synthetic. I get it at a petro bulk station. I live in Grande Prairie, Alberta so that kind of thing is common here. Where abouts in BC? Might be worth your trip if you live in Northern BC (no HST :D)
