Humming between 60 and 65 MPH on various road surfaces

Hello all-

We just picked up our GC a few weeks back, upon making this trip (610 miles) to Southport NC from Pittsburgh, it was the first time we had spent on the highway.

The entire trip, which has consisted of mixed highway took us from 650 miles to the current 1260.... We experience a humming from the front end between 60 and 65 MPH. I'm curious if anyone has a similar experience or possible solution.

I searched to no avail...

The tire pressure is to factory spec. .....

Bring it back to the dealer. That is what a warranty is for. They can figure it out.

i had the same problem a while back on my older wk...could be a hole in 1 of your vents..is it like a whistleing sort of noise?

I have it, seems like there is almost a harmonic noise in the front end. I ignor it, they can't find anything wrong.

I have it too. There have been several threads about similar stuff (I started one too). Seemed all affected have 4wd. Guessing you do too?

Tropiccafe; Thanks for providing the first response.

richxgior; no, it's a very definitive hum.

wjs81866; I hope there is a resolution, I can ignore it for the most part but would feel better if there was a fix.

CrazyJ; yes, 4wd..... that's interesting to know.

Does the humming sound change when you take you foot off of the accelerator?

The sound goes away once you drop below 60 or exceed 65 w/or w/o the accelerator depressed.....

Second order vibrations are usually an imbalance in a rotating assembly. Could be a tire out of balance, could be the tires themselves, could be a half-shaft that isn't balanced. My guess is something in a rotating assembly that is part of the drivetrain not the engine. Does your dealer have a road force balancing machine? I would have them check this first if they haven't already.
