AC and Remote Start

Today, as my wife and I are leaving Buy Buy Baby with our 6 month old daughter, I remote started the Jeep thinking that I would cool off the interior for a minute so it's not too hot for my little girl. I shut the engine off with the AC still running. But when I entered the Jeep, just the fan was blowing but the AC light was off, so I had to press the AC button to turn the compressor on. Am I doing something wrong? Is the AC not supposed to turn on with remote start when you shut down the engine while you had the AC running? I checked the manual but couldn't find anything about this. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Can't help you with the manual control system. The automatic temp control turns on the compressor as well as the ventilated seats on a remote start.

I remote start mine all the time and the ac is always on and on high.

I remote start all the time too and the A/C is running and cools off the vehicle before getting into it... It is a feature that I now really enjoy which I had thought was unnecessary in the warm climate of Florida.

Well I guess then it only works with automatic climate control, as I have manual control. I tried it again a couple of times in my driveway and noticed that the AC turns on ONLY when I open the door. That totally defeats the purpose.

The Consumer programmable section of the EVIC has the following instructions. Perhaps there is something there you need to configure? Just guessing here, didn't have to touch mine.

[Press and release the UP or DOWN button until Setup
displays in the EVIC.
Use the UP or DOWN button to display one of the
following choices.]

Remote Start Comfort Sys.
When this feature is selected and the remote start is
activated, the heated steering wheel and driver heated
seat features will automatically turn on in cold weather.
In warm weather, the driver vented seat feature will
automatically turn on when the remote start is activated.
These features will stay on through the duration of
remote start or until the key is turned to RUN. To make
your selection, press and release the SELECT button until
a check-mark appears next to the feature showing the
system has been activated or the check-mark is removed,
showing the system has been deactivated.

Leave a/c on AUTO when you turn it off.

Already checked this and didn't see any option for Remote Start Comfort.....but I'll check again.

Do all of you who have this working have Automatic Climate Control? Anyone have manual control only and working?

Re: AC and Remote Start

I have a Laredo without the auto climate control. When I remote start, the A/C is always on as long as I left it that way when I turned off the car. Living in Boston during the summer, I have used the remote start for the purpose of cooling off the car many times...

Can you please do me a favor? Remote start your Jeep. Wait a few minutes then walk up to your drivers side window, do not open the door or touch the handle. Look inside and take a look at the AC button. Is the light on the AC button ON? If not, look at the AC button while you open the door, does it turn on then?

If you have a base Laredo with no Auto Climate control then you're probably out of luck.

Others with full auto climate control, the remote start will also cool/heat the seats depending on the outside temp and activate the heated stering wheel in cold weather.
