Early 2011 to Late 2011 Changes

Well I canceled my SRT8 order because they are smoking something to charge $63K for a Jeep.

I ended up trading my 2011 Limited for a 2011 Overland and got a steal of a deal. With the incentives and USAA discount (nearly $7K off sticker) I was able trade my Limited with 12K miles for a brand new Overland without paying a cent.

From my early build Limited 8/10 to the new overland build date 6/11 I noticed surprisingly a lot of changes. Maybe my June build is really a 2012 in disguise :D
  • Hemi starter has changed (quicker starts and way different sound)
Sun glasses holder has been lined with more foam to reduced rattles (finally)
Sun roof and power shade controls have switched sides
    Blinker is much louder
    Tailgate beeper is much quieter
There might be more I haven't noticed yet....I will keep everyone posted

My opinion on the RHR 730N versus the 430N. Personally I like the garmin nav better, it is much more intuitive and allows custom POI's to be loaded. I also like how the 430N has the sound equalizer set to each audio source, the 730N only allows one setting. The 430N offers blazing fast feedback to touch and is overall much quicker. However, I do like having real time traffic and travel link that you can't get on the 430N.

Also the air suspension is a much smoother ride than the regular suspension.

I am stoked with my steal of a deal, so if anyone is on the fence about a late 2011 versus a 2012, get the 2011 for the extreme savings while you still can.

Sounds great! I havent been to a dealership to look at the late 2011 or early 2012 but assume its very similar with minute differences as you mentioned. That tailgate beep is annoying.. lol

I do have a question on the cost less trade. Did you not use the USAA discount on the limited? Its surprising your able to get so much in the trade that you can turn around and buy a brand new overland, there arent many incentives still. Else the USAA discount is much better now? I have no experience with USAA but heard its similar to the thread lightly discount and 1% or better below invoice.

Very cool though and glad to hear about it!

I wasn't able to get any discounts on the Limited as it was to new for any dealer to budge. However they did give me what I owed on my limited which made it so much better. I am not sure how they are going to sell it with the discounts that are being given right now. The USAA discount in my area was invoice minus $2,600 plus an additional $1,000 USAA discount and the $1,000 Jeep incentive right now. That is much better than my tread lightly invoice + 1%.

Did you use their online service for this? I am a USAA member as well and would buy one today if I could get the same deal!

Two things:
1. I wish I could make the tailgate beeping sound quieter (I've heard the softer Durango's).
2. My 730N RER does allow me to set different volumes for Radio, Nav, and U-Connect.

NB my build date is Aug. 2010.

Yes. Just log on to USAA, click on Services, then Car Service and away you go. I just configured a 2011 with the options I wanted today and it was $6658 off MSRP so his approximately $7K figure is correct. You get a $1K USAA discount (expires 31 Aug), the $1K Jeep discount (expires 6 September) and that is in addition to the well below invoice....it's much better than Tread Lightly.

For the RER, you can adjust the Nav volume. When you are using the navigation and as it is talking turn the volume down or up as you see fit. Same thing for uconnect...do it as you are talking. It will then stay at that volume until you change it.

I wish I could disable the beep all together. On my limited I took the side panel apart and still couldn't find the speaker to unplug the wire.

My 430N allowed different volumes for NAV, U-Connect, and Radio, but it also allowed me to set different bass and treble levels for each source (CD, SAT, FM, AM, Media, and bluetooth) which I miss.

I'm not a USAA member, would someone be kind enough to see what kind of pricing I would get if I were a member (see below)? I hate to sign up for things that I wouldn't use, especially if they require a SS#. Locally the Jeep I want can be had for about $35,500 which seems a bit steep since 2012's are already showing up on the lots and they have 400+ 2011 GC's in a 25 mile radius.

I picked up a 2011 Overland in late June for 42K. It has Rear set entertainment and the adaptive cruise control. Sticker was 46k. I used Chrysler affiliate which brought it down to invoice -1%. They had to dealer trade so that was the only deal I got. It didn't seem too bad.

Do you have had to serve in the military to join?
