Track Tested Video: 2012 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 vs 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Since I can't find the WK2 SRT8 Thread, I thought I should post this here

Mods, feel free to move or delete my post :)

Interesting. Edmunds/Insideline has a real knack for posting the slowest acceleration runs for chryco vehicles.....you do see that in the 0-60 but the 1/4 matches c&d's figure (dont know about mph though).

Also interesting to see that the Jeep moderately eclipsed the Cayenne Turbo in slalom speed despite being slower and having a lot less stick. I guess the Jeep really is the better handler.

Im still looking forward to r&t and motortrend times as they tend to do better. Of course some real world 1/4 times when the temps come down a bit will probably bring some low 13 time slips (and yes I am aware that insideline/c&d etc do apply a correction).

thanks for posting!

Thanks for posting Father Paul. I feel weird saying that name.
Anyways, back in early 2006, I recall the WK1 SRT Jeeps were pulling 5.2 0-60 mph times. Probably due to first year kinks and very little run-in time.

Don't worry about a "slow" 5.1 0-60 time guys and gals. It will get better with age and soon enough will show the Cayenne who's boss.

I'm still very impressed with the WK2 SRT8.

Inside Line also featured the Dodge Charger SRT8, 0-60: 4.6 sec, 1/4 mile: 12.7 sec/ 111.3 mph, 60-0: 108 ft.

I can't remember if it was either Milous or Scott that said it but one of them said not to worry too much about the test numbers, as they've seen from a very reliable source the Wk2 Srt8 do the 1/4 under 13 seconds, I'm guessing that will put the 0-60 at about 4.6-4.7 also.

Look's like Motortrend got a little better #'s, but they are comparing it to a Cayenne S and X5 3.5i.

hmmm interesting how it can outhandle the Porsche on the slalom but cant hold as many G's on the pad? half .05gs less to be specific.

The Porsche does seem to have better body control though, less roll but it also looks like its sitting little lower and Id bet the suspension on its a tad nicer :) Not taking anything from the ADS system but Porsche for $100k better handle a little nicer

Power wise the turbos are king, but barley! You can see/hear that Turbo pull much harder up top, pretty clear the advantages of F/I but still I love a nice nice NA motor :)

The N/A 6.4 wasnt far behind and these number may be a bit off cause you know how biased these things are haha. Excited to see actual test results from owners
