Cleaning Undercarriage
My daughter just bought her 06 a few days ago. I detailed the outside and it looks great. I looked underneath and saw more rust than what would seem normal to me. I was wondering if I should try and clean it myself or have it done professionally. I'm a 52 year old female but I'm not afraid to get dirty. :D

Re: Cleaning Undercarriage
Posting a picture of what you're seeing under there would help...

You really can't do much about cleaning rust off. If anything, a light sanding and a few shots with some rustoleum can do wonders. That's what I ended up having to do with my gas tank skid. I cleaned really well with de-greaser and a brush, then painted it with bedliner. The winter salt destroys everything....

Yea I went under mine with a stiff brush and cleaned up everything then sprayed it with rustolium and now its gonna be protected.

Re: Cleaning Undercarriage
Since we bought it last week, we took it to the dealer and they're going to clean the undercarriage and coat it for us.

Hahahahaha and you believe that garbage? They will hose it off and tell you they used some kind of clear "coating" on it. They lie

Re: Cleaning Undercarriage
The dealer picked it up for me today. They sand blasted the rust off and undercoated it. I was impressed he really did a good job on it. I guess you have to be a fifty-one year old female to know how to get what you want. (wink-wink)

Pictures? I'd really like to see that cause I find it hard to believe the dealer actually did that.

I have to agree, those vultures are deceiving devils.

Re: Cleaning Undercarriage
First issue I have is they DID NOT SAND BLAST IT. No way no how they could get under there and blast it, they would have put holes in wires, brake lines, fuel lines, everything. And there is no good way to guard them from it... take it back and demand a refund

Re: Cleaning Undercarriage
I would recommend POR-15. Did the underside of my jeep
and it looks great. Starter kits are available on Ebay for about
$26. Prob took a couple of hours to do it right (clean/prep/paint).
