Another transmission thread!
Sorry about potentially beating a dead horse, but I have a question!

Often when I'm driving, whether under acceleration or if I'm just cruising and have my foot off the accelerator, I'll feel a sudden lurch forward. I think Frango said it best in the other thread when he described it as a "clunk in the drivetrain." It's almost like the Jeep wants to jump forward just a little bit. Also, this never happens when I'm driving above ~40mph and is unnoticeable or just doesn't occur under hard acceleration.

I was just wondering if anyone has experienced similar symptoms and if this is something significant that I should worry about?

Thanks so much in advance!

PS - It is a '99 WJ Limited with 78k!

Re: Another transmission thread!
Also, it has Quadra-Drive and there is no CEL! I've read that it might be the TPS, but I just wanted to see what you guys thought before I spent any money on parts.

Thanks again! You guys are great!

Re: Another transmission thread!
It could be the internal clutches like what happened to Frango's transmission, or TPS. Or something else.... lol. My TPS didn't always throw a CEL code when it went out, only once it started having near constant problems did the CEL come on. If your have an ODBII scanner you can plug it in and view the TPS output as you push the pedal back and forth, if the voltage changes as smoothly/quickly as you push on the pedal it might be ok, if it jumps around a lot it needs replacing. You can also pull the tranny pan and check, if there is a lot of gunk in the bottom the clutches are falling apart. Good luck, hope this helps.
