New questions for the 2011-12 Jeep engineers

Please post any questions you may have for Phil jansen and his engineering team. Please nothing about future products etc. You guys know the deal and what they will answer. I will submit the questions in a couple days and we will get answers asap.

Hi Scott,
If you could please ask:

Lolz, they have already announced it for the v6, so the CRD should have been included in this announcement. It is worth a shot

You may want to ask him to clarify exactly what the differences are between the 5 speed with up to date TSB and the 6 speed.

Also what was done to improve the EPA mpg number. (V8 in particular)

I believe it has to do with the electric-hydraulic steering.

I have a few but I am new to the forum so I'm hoping they are appropriate:

I would ask why the "snowblocker" foam piece in front of the intake was added to later builds.

It would be nice to get an official answer on the plastic tape covering the door drains.

I would also like to know why premium gas in not recommended and if it could lead to other issues.

There was a post talking about programed transmission lag times and how they are significantly slower than other years/makes and I would like to know the thinking around them. Everyone seems to be waiting for the tuners to improve them but if it's by design what are they protecting?

There was another posts saying the 5.7L Hemi only requires 500cfm at WOT and I would like confirmation of that.

He probably won't answer this one but I would ask what he believes is the biggest hardware/software weak link. Just a general question on what he thinks the weakest link is in the drivetrain. Might be as simple as milage ratings or something like the AC compressor will only allow so many RPM's.

+1 on the tranny lag times, this Jeep is so unresponsive it's a joke, I paid for the "Hemi" and it feels like a slug.

Hi all, new to the forum.

I have a question regarding any communication issues you may have if you upgrade the audio system (MyGiG, amplifier, speakers), something to do with not being able to complete system software upgrades because of the CAM-BUS network being interfered.

I remember reading one owner that replaced the MyGiG head unit and started to have lots of problems that the service dealer said were related to a communication issue associated to the missing MyGiG unit.

Thanks a lot!

Pablo

Correct. V6 only. I don't think they have revised the EPA numbers for the Hemi.
