Wool wash mitt or Sheepskin wash mitt?

Been looking and buying some stuff to step up my detailing/car care game and have been shopping on a few well known online detail stores and I've come across wool and sheepskin wash mitts. My questions are is one better than the other? Is wool worth 3 times as much as sheepskin? Are there different tasks for each mitt? I've already decided and that there will be a 2 bucket system with grit guards and a quality wash/shampoo but I'm just curious about the mitt.

I would assume buy the sheepskin and save myself $20 but if its going to cause more swirls than wool would than I'll spend the money.

I havent had the wool you speak of...but I had the sheepskin from detailedimage and it didnt last very long....not even one summer. It fell aprt and lost most of its nap. I would buy the one with the deepest nap. I actually have the microfiber foam mitt from detailed image at the moment.

Good to know, I was looking at the Sheepskin from DI and the Uber wool mitt from Detailers Domain its $30 but it looks like it has a deeper nap and is used by alot of the more popular detailers on the forums. How's the microfiber mitt?

The materials are very similar but the thickness is much different as you noted. If you want a thicker one I'd highly recommend checking out the DI Accessories reTHICKulous Wool Wash Mitt and you can save 10% off with the coupon code 10offJG. The DI Accessories Sheepskin Wash Mitt is a good value as it's our August special but the durability varies, some last 10x washes, some will last 30+ washes. If you want something very durable and a great value try the Lake Country Blue Grout Spongewhich I've used for a long time now.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

DI has a new super thick wool mitt for $29

The foam mitt is ok...but looks like they dont sell it anymore. Ive had good luck with it. I use it with the foam gun and it cuts my washing time in half.

For the price, I just stock up on the DI sheepskins. My first one fell apart after 3 months of regularly maintaining 2 Jeeps...so that's a summer+ for a single vehicle. That's with throwing it in the dryer after washing it, and then turning it inside out to dry every time. I'm not so sure I want a mitt for years. It might make sense to toss it every few months...it's like the kitchen sponge.

Valid point, I think I'll stick with the wool because of the nap though and maybe once a year change it out to avoid getting the "kitchen sponge" effect lol
