2012 JGC Build Your Own (Edmunds & USAA ZAG)

Just thought I'd let everyone know that is interested that the USAA ZAG pricing and build your own is up for the 2012 Grand Cherokee and you can also build it on Edmunds as well.

NOTE: On Edmunds, it shows the ELSD and QDII coming on the V8 when you select that option (non-Summit since it comes with it) but it shows two options for the ORAG II. ORAG II that is $275 is the cost ONLY if you're getting a Summit otherwise you have to select the $995 ORAG II to get the ELSD and QDII which that option shows.

Edmunds is showing the OR1 group twice for the Laredo, and not showing the OR2 group. Same price for both OR1 choices, too, so one isn't just the OR2 group mis-named.

Also, it lets you add the Security and Convenience Group for the Laredo X, even though, as far as I can know, the "X" package already contains the SaCG. wk2jeeps has also been showing the SaCG as available for the Laredo X (I asked about the oddity in the 2012 new features thread but never got a response), so it may be Chrysler's fault, not Edmunds.

Funny
I just put my configuration into usaa
The usaa price is more than what I got when I preordered
They gave me 1,200 off invoice
It's now 250 off!!!
Happy I pulled the trigger earlier
I wonder if the market is reacting
I think the overlands are just an absolute steal when compared to a lr4 or the other euro SUVs
Maybe the secret is out

FYI...checked the USAA pricing compared to the TreadLightly discount...and TL is cheaper than USAA by about $300 (at least on my 2012 order anyway).

Probably the Zag 2012 pricing will soften in the coming weeks as dealer lots have more units on hand, but at least it's up and running!

Update: Checked pricing today, and Zag is only $500 under invoice, just a bit better than Tread Lightly. A month ago for the same configuration in a 2011, Zag was $1,350 off invoice.

I ran the USAA and Amex yesterday and got $300, $500 and $651 under invoice (Philly area, 2012 Summit, Black/New Saddle, Hemi). Are the alternatives to Zag (TL, etc.) showing significant differences?

I don't know of anything that equals Zag or TL for steep valid discounting short of the old-fashioned checking with individual dealers and bargaining vigorously. Even then, it helps to walk into a showroom with a confirmed Zag quote in hand.

TL is 1% off invoice, period, as I understand it, while typically Zag varies according to dealers' willingness to bargain and thus is somewhat better -- sometimes much better. Perhaps Zag dealers aren't dealing seriously just yet because 1) they are still trying to get rid of 2011 inventory, and 2) their inventory of 2012s is still thin (many listed are shown as being en route rather than on hand, and past experience shows that some units shown as being on hand are actually en route). Best guess is as inventories of 2012 unite begin to grow, Zag will move into the $1k+ off invoice area.

Possibly also because 3) the official sales period for 2012 starts 9/1.

One dealer in our area shows special internet pricing for each 2012 GC supposedly on hand, and all those prices were identical to MSRP!

Bottom line, IMO, is that by late September, as the quarter winds down and bargaining power shifts to the consumer, we ought to be able to get $1k or more off invoice.

You can get $1,500 below invoice on 2012 Grand Cherokees in Maryland.

Thanks for the tip. Did you get this as an Internet price or by walking in? For a special order or one off the lot?

Internet pricing for on the lot vehicles (didn't ask about special ordering). I emailed and they called and confirmed. I would buy the 2012 Overland Hemi I want, except it costs $950 to ship it to Nebraska so I won't gain anything and prefer to wait for the 20" polished wheels to be an option anyway.

The internet pricing will show 2012 Overland Hemi's for $39,499 but if you don't qualify for military add back $500 and if you don't qualify for non-Chrysler lease rebate add another $1000 = $40,999 on an MSRP of $46,015.

He told me $500 below invoice + another $1,000 Maryland offer that is good for anyone, so $1,500 below invoice on 2012 Overland Hemi's. He said the have to tax even the amounts that were discounted off though, but based on my or your states sales tax percentage.

They have:
Brilliant Black , Black inteior (what I want).
Mineral Gray , Dark Frost / Light Frost interior.
Stone White , Dark Frost / Light Frost interior.

Here's the link: http://www.heritagechryslerjeepmaryl...&SBprice=clear

If you like one of these and you're near Baltimore, you might want to act fast now that I've posted about this deal here. They have Limiteds too. And 2011 Laredos and Limiteds, but I only checked the price on 2012 Overland Hemis.
