New Additions to my 03 WJ

Whew! It has been a busy two days! Went to a local salvage yard, got the under hood light & cable, cargo area power outlet and cable, a bunch of lug nuts, and some other goodies for my WJ. The parts, if new, would have been about $100 from the dealer; got everything for $10. Gotta love it!

Got all that installed, it is amazing how little things like that make you feel so good! (At 57, it's hard to get around and do stuff like I used to!)

Next stuff is the Viper 5901 on Friday, the hurricane on Saturday :) , then Cabin Filtration System, LED third Brake Light, Chrome Exhaust Tip, bug shield, ventshades (in channel), new headlight buckets and new taillights. Yep, gotta lot of stuff to do, but it is SO satisfying to do it myself. And I just LOVE finding stuff either at salvage yard or on eBay!!

Yep...nice warm and fuzzy feeling of accomplishment. Especially when you can make 8 to 10 year old vehicle look and function as good or better than most people's 2-4 year old rides.

I've got a set of immaculate tails for sale if you're interested. I have them posted in the for sale forum, along with a bunch of other little odds and ends.

Did you have to do any wiring to get that underhood light in or is there a terminal under the hood already for it?
Good luck!

re: The underhood light: I ripped the light and wiring out of an old '99 that was in the junkyard. The wiring actually went into the firewall and to the dash, so I clipped as much as I could. I installed the light on my hood, then ran the wiring down the right side in a loom, and then to the battery with a 20A inline fuse. Grounded to chassis at firewall.

Would love to see the lights, please send me a link....

So the "switch" is integral to the light fixture or is it a seperate unit? My old XJ had one with a built in switch that would illuminate the bulb once the hood was open a certain height.

Here's the post for the tails...thanks!
