Lower control arm rear bushing
I just bought this jeep with 115k. It has some moderate to heavy tire wear on the inside of both front tires, driver's side more than passenger. Also, the steering wheel sits slightly to the right. When changing diff fluids this weekend, I had a chance to inspect the front end. Everything looked solid except the rear bushings on the lower control arms. They are dried out and cracked. I found a MOOG replacement part (K200182) for the rear bushing, which is much less money than new control arms.

Im glad I can replace just the bushing with what looks like a better quality part, but am not sure what it will take to get it replaced. Out of curiosity, I called a local shop for a quote and they said 3hrs per side. lol, gimme a break.

Question is, has anyone tackled this? Does the whole arm have to come off, or can I unbolt the front and rear and leave the ball joint connected? It looks like the new piece has a metal sleeve inside it whereas the old bushing does not. This leads me to believe it just slips onto the control arm yoke...

Thanks for the help.

Re: Lower control arm rear bushing

Did you end up doing this yet? I'm looking at doing the same.

I did. Passenger side went great. To use the Moog bushing you may need to polish the yoke of the control arm down some before it will go on. The bushing uses a metal-on-metal design instead of rubber-on-metal like the factory bushing. I Just used sand paper tape on the yoke til the grooves were worn down and it was smooth all around. Then just put the arm in a vice and bang the bushing on with a large socket and bfh. Driver's side was hell bc of the clevis bolt. Ended up with a new control arm, I posted about that one. Good luck!
