2008+ 3.7 WK owners....ASSEMBLE!!!
 
I got someone asking me about porting a 3.7 Intake manifold.OK, Simple enough. Its for a 2008 MY 3.7 Grand Cherokee. When I look in WeRMopar, it appears that there are different intake manifolds for the 20078 and the 2009+ models. The throttle bodies interchange, I know this for fact. They are much different in price...79.00 vs. 140.00 or so.

The part numbers out of the parts manuals are the following:

53032999AD for 2009
53034181AB for 2008

I have looked all over the internet to see if Chrysler made note of this change in intake manifold, but nothing. Probably because nobody cares about this motor lol.

My question is, is there any way someone can confirm whether these two different part numbers are identical, or if one is different/better/worse than the other? I cant see why Chrysler would intentionally give something a different part number and make it substantially more expensive (usually implying that it is more expensive to design/produce as well) unless it was superior to its predecessor. The 09 and later models also have the same hp/tq rating, but that may or may not be accurate.

Can anyone take a pic of their engine bay, preferably without that goofy resonator box sitting on top of the manifold?

The parts manuals show the same picture for both years...but theyve been wrong before.

I can get a pic of my '08 manifold up tomorrow. If someone with an 09-10 can get a pic up we can compare. LETS DO THIS!!!!

mines and 09 but im pretty bad with cars in general. so i duno how i can help.

^ is an intake manifold. All I need is for someone to take a pic, focusing on the manifold itself, in the engine bay.

Okay so today was a complete F*** up. Lol I'll be installing my fogs tomorrow (was supposed to be today) and Ill take the air reso off and snap a few pics. My bad.

Ryan I can try to snap a pick for you, but dont have time to take off the air reso. Would that still be helpful? I have a 2010 3.7

BTW, I am running your taper-bored TB, noticed better throttle response and it seems even a little more low-end grunt at low speeds.

What kind of gains would we get with a ported intake manifold??

Alrite so I managed to snap a few pics of my 08. Because I was losing daylight fast I didn't take off the TB and if that weren't bad enough my camera died before the first pic so I had to resort to the good ol cellular cam.

Intresting At this point i will have to start modding my 3.7 engine lol not worried as im not a race junky but i want it to sound nice!!!

Good to hear that you are running it- and like it.

The verdict is out on what kind of gains there will be but it is likely that there will be increased midrange/upper rpm power. If there are restrictions or casting flaws in the manifold (I need one up close to determine this) it is possible that low end might improve by a hair. We will see, at this time I dont have enough information. This got started because several people have asked for it, and if they are willing to experiment I will give it my all.
