Overland Summit leather issues

Any one else have leather issues? My front drivers seat is cracking and showing wear at only 4k miles. Dealer is swapping it out (the leather cover). Just wondering if this is going to be of things to come.:(

I am in the same boat. Dealer had no issue swapping it out? Do they just swap the affected seat? I would not want to have to swap it out more then once so if anything I would wait until I can't take it anymore. It's not that bad but I can see it may eventually be bad.

FWIW The "leather" is actually a replaceable seat cover (albeit by a trained technician) as opposed to "swapping out" the entire seat....

That is what I was told..just the cover.also found out it is common from swinging your but around to get out. Got the rock rails installed and put some grip tape. Now it's a step, so hopefully not so much wear.

I am also having this issue with the drivers seat too. So a jeep dealership near me took photo's and sent t to their warranty people said it may take a while....

The actual seat portion on my Overland is showing huge wear. I need to take the GC for that, the right speaker being blown out and the truck overheating while sitting in traffic. Go Jeep

Mine was replaced at 15,000 miles under warranty. i would recommend having your dealer have an interior tech do the install as mine is back in the shop having it done "right". same issue on passenger seatback. replaced but looks terrible.

Having what seems to be the same issue with my driverside seat. Do you have any pictures or documents from Jeep? They denied my claim but it seems that this is a common issue.

Thanks for the help.

I now have cracks on the seat as well. How are the replacements holding up?

^^^do you have pics to share? My late build 11 seats are holding up great, but at only 9k miles, that may change soon based on everything I see here.

Re: Overland Summit leather issues

Reading the numerous reports of this happening with the Saddle interior (which I think looks great) is the principal reason I opted for black leather. I haven't heard of any instances of this occurring with the black interiors, but maybe I've missed those reports.

A few people have claimed that it's due to people entering and exiting the vehicle improperly, but I just don't buy that. I've owned numerous vehicles with leather interiors and have never seen this type of premature wear. Clearly, it's a problem with how the Saddle leather, at least in some GCs, was improperly tanned and dyed.
