Wiring Trailer Harness
So after scouring for info or diagrams to show me how to wire up a basic 4-pin trailer harness, i decided to just figure it out myself and pass it on to anyone else who may be in my position.
I have a 2005 grand cherokee WITHOUT any factory wiring for a tow package. I added a receiver and needed a flat 4-pin connector for the lights. The wiring is as follows:
White on harness- Ground- Splice into black ground wire on either tail light plug.
Brown on harness- Running lights- splice into left tail light's Purple/White wire (you could do this on the right too, but I'm not sure which wire color)
Green on harness- Right indicator- splice into Red/White wire on right tail light plug
Yellow on harness- Left indicator- splice into Dark green/White wire on left tail light plug
Your harness may have different colors, but I'm pretty sure its a universal color code for the simple 4-pins, harness is $4.97 and took me about 20minutes to do it all.
Go get em!
Re: Wiring Trailer Harness
Thanks, 2011 Jeep Compass here probably the same. Seems pretty simple!
