Relwarc's New Build

Ok so this is going to be a 3 phase build. I'm starting with my SRT with an 11 speaker Kicker system in it.

Phase 1: Doors (JBL)
Phase 2: Dash speakers and Subs (JBL in the dash and dual 12" kicker slims in the trunk)
Phase 3: Head unit (Thinking the alpine or pioneer H/U)

I plan to use this system to compete in sound quality competition. I will eventually bypass the stock amp, but it's not necessary for quality. It would be necessary if i wanted to be crazy loud. The head unit should help me tune it correctly.

First is the doors. I've just finished replacing the doors with JBL components.

Here's the shop it was sitting in while we did the work. Sitting next to Final Notice tinkering with his jeep

Here are the speakers mocked up:

The rear doors had the Tweeters that needed to be installed. I used a hole saw and a dremel to make the hole, and the install was actually pretty easy.

Lessons learned:

The kicker system in the jeep is NOT crossed over in the rear doors, so i used the mids, the crossover, and the tweeters.

The FRONT doors are already crossed over. This means the wiring in the doors can only drive the mid. I am going to use the tweeters from this set and attach them (via crossover) to the new dash speakers and install them with some imagination in phase 2.

So far, the highs are SO much better, the voices are crisper. it's amazing. for just the doors and nothing in the dash, the quality is already way better.

That tweeter mounting system is the sh#t! Any chance they make a 6x9 component setup like that for us WJ guys? That setup would sure eliminate all those dash retrofit problems for the tweets.

Thanks!
Take a look on the JBL website, there's always a way to get the job done.

Whhhhhhhat? You are going to have literally the best sounding audio on the East Coast. Once I'm ready, I'm going to get some Audio done. I what The Darkside to it.
