Clean your throttle bodies!

2 Attachment(s)
Mine had a serious case of yuck mouth. My jeep has 96k on it and I have never cleaned it until today. Next up is the intake manifold. I do sea foam every now and then but I doubt its getting all this crud that is stuck on.

The second pic makes me look irish with all the dirt(freckles) on my arm from scrubbing it! lol

DAMN! Mine is clean @ 137k. I'm going to seafoam it once it gets back from the Dealership.

There was a lot caked on the back of the butterfly but where the butterfly seats there wasn't much. The front of the throttle body was practically clean. The crud just flaked off with the help of an old gift card I used to scratch it off. I had some left over Mass Air Flow cleaner I sprayed on it then I used some 0000 Steel Wool to polish it up a bit and get the residue off. Lastly I sprayed it again then hit it with a Micro Fiber cloth. The only noticeable difference is my CAI makes a more pronounced hissing sound and throttle response from idle feels a little better.

On the hemi you just take off the intake and IAT, then its four 8mm bolts to get the TB off and the electrical connection that brings the singal to the TB.

I just did this on Sunday and I agree this is such a great way to keep your hemi running great. The area where the butterfly sits in the housing was almost sealed shut by all the garbage and now that I got it clean my jeep is purring! Its seriously like a new vehicle.
